national gallery of art engagement session
washington, dc
A bright and breezy early spring morning. Surrounded by masterpieces. Playing in the cherry blossoms. What could be more iconic of the D.C. spring season?
I recently met up with Julie and Chris in Washington D.C. where we were taking advantage of the early hour to beat the crowds at the National Gallery of Art. The Gallery is a Mecca of world-renown art, sculpture, paintings, and photographs. A work of art in its own right, it’s impossible to walk through the door and not admire the details; the smooth surfaces, the light and shadow, the clean lines, the striking contrasts that somehow all seamlessly blend together in unity. But to be honest, as awe-inspiring as this place was, spending time with Julie and Chris was the real treat of the day! These two are such fun, down-to-earth, playful, head-over-heels in love with each other and life, kind of people. When it came to working the camera, they nailed it! Julie was a dream, her dress popped and blended with the spaces, and Chris was so game to play along, make us laugh, and look so effortless even in the more daring shots. I love couples who don’t mind stretching across the middle of circular, massively tall – maybe slightly dangerous – staircases to reach for each other’s hands!
So I have to say, just like their surroundings, these two free-spirits genuinely demonstrate that soulmates can be authentically individual, yet in perfect harmony. And really, what could be more fun and fitting than elegant apparel paired with ultra-cool footwear?
Julie and Chris – thanks for the good vibes! I can not wait to capture your wedding photos!!
