There’s something magical about Rust Manor House weddings—and Emily and Will’s celebration was no exception. From the moment Emily stepped into her gown in the sun-drenched bridal suite to their golden hour portraits in the garden, every moment of this day was full of emotion, elegance, and joy.
As a wedding photographer in DC, Rust Manor House in Leesburg, Virginia is one of my favorite venues for couples who want a timeless backdrop with plenty of charm. This wedding blended natural beauty, heartfelt moments, and classic design in the most effortless way.
A Storybook Setting in the Heart of Virginia
Rust Manor House offers so many romantic settings—manicured lawns, forested pathways, and historic architecture. It’s ideal for couples who want a wedding that feels intimate, graceful, and full of character.
Emily and her bridesmaids got ready in the main manor house, where soft window light made for some dreamy pre-ceremony portraits. Meanwhile, Will and his groomsmen got ready at the charming on-site cottage, tucked just behind the gardens, offering a quiet, private space before the festivities began.
Neither of us had been professionally photographed before but he made us completely comfortable and we got some mazing shots.
Wedding Day Highlights:
The First Look: Under a canopy of trees, Emily and Will shared an emotional first look. Their reactions were so genuine, it was one of those moments you never forget as a photographer.
Garden Ceremony: Surrounded by trees and classic white chairs, their ceremony took place just steps from the manor. A soft breeze, glowing light, and a joyful walk down the aisle made it unforgettable.
Golden Hour Portraits: This is where Rust Manor truly shines. The light during golden hour filtered beautifully through the trees, casting a romantic glow on every frame. These are the kinds of photos you print, frame, and look back on forever.
Reception Under the Tent: Guests celebrated under a beautifully lit tent with string lights, toasts full of laughter, and dancing that carried into the night. The soft tones and candlelit tables were a dream to photograph.
My Approach as a Wedding Photographer
My goal with Emily and Will was to tell their story in a way that felt authentic, romantic, and timeless. Using a combination of documentary-style moments and lightly guided portraits, I captured not just what their day looked like—but how it felt.
