Finding a Professional Wedding Photographer in Los Cabos

Finding a Professional Wedding Photographer in Los Cabos

Finding a Professional WeddingPhotographer in Los Cabos

FINE ART & DESTINATION WEDDINGS

How can you find the best possible photographer in Mexico?

It can be challenging to find a photographer in your home town, let alone in another country. I’ve put together some tips to help you get the most bang for your buck while getting amazing photos that you and your family will treasure for a lifetime!

LOS CABOS WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER

yes, that's me

Wedding photography is not for the faint of heart, and for beginning photographers any little thing can throw them off their game. Be sure your photographer has experience with your location, style, and vision. Destination weddings are a whole other ballgame when it comes to wedding photography and you don’t need the additional complications and confusion of a rookie photographer trying to navigate a foreign country.

And of course, they should not view this as a free vacation! Look for a professional who is able to handle the challenge of travel, thinking on the fly, and understands the logistics. This will make the experience that much easier for you. This day is all about you and you don’t want to risk a mess-up with your photographer.

Missing an emotional moment

is not worth risking it.

No Newbies

Find a Bilingual Photographer:

It’s extremely helpful to have a photographer who can communicate with vendors and planners with ease.

As a photographer in Los Cabos, I frequently find it necessary to be able to speak in both languages. It helps avoid mistakes that can be time sucks.

I also can translate for the couple if needed - and this is actually needed more than you would think! While amazing images don’t require a bilingual photographer, it certainly makes your day go a lot easier.

Choose a Local:

I can’t stress enough how important it is to find a local wedding photographer. You don’t want to be their “first” go round in your chosen location.

An experienced local photographer can offer tips on venues, planners, sites, and activities. Mexico is such a diverse country, and while many photographers are lured in by the idea of taking photos in an exotic locale, this is not what you want when choosing a photographer.

Ideally, your chosen photographer already knows the area, where to go, how to get there on time, has their own transportation, all their gear, and can speak the language.

I enjoy taking my couples to the absolute best spots, be it in a hidden corner of a big resort or in a natural setting for just the two of you to enjoy! Choosing a professional local wedding photographer will give you both peace of mind and stunning images.

Avoid Travel Fees:

Along the same line, if you go local you can avoid costly travel fees which eat into your budget.

Photographers who travel with you will typically ask you to cover lodging, meals, and transportation. This can be avoided by going with a local wedding photographer. Spend that money on something else and make your wedding the best day ever!

Take Caution with Resort Photographers:

Resorts often bundle a photographer into the price of your wedding package, but be wary of this option. Many resort photographers offer a low starting price, but you will only get a limited number of images and a couple hours of coverage. If you choose more hours or images the price will dramatically increase, and often you will still find that the hours of coverage don’t include getting ready images or time ends before you cut the cake.

To avoid disappointment on such an important investment, be sure to ask for a portfolio of images including a full wedding of the photographer you will be assigned for your wedding, check package pricing, and if possible, book your photographer separately.

At the end of your wedding you will be left only with images for you and your family to enjoy. Don’t waste money on a photographer who doesn’t give you what you want. It’s also a big advantage to be able to communicate with your photographer on your own, this helps ensure you get your dream images and the amount of time you desire for a price to suit your budget. You will also have far more options when it comes to choosing prints, albums, and framed images. Don’t skimp on such an important priority.

Four Reasons to Get Married in Los Cabos

Four Reasons to Get Married in Los Cabos

four reasons to get married in los cabos

Wedding photographer Los cabos

You’ve decided on a destination wedding. Congrats! Maybe you are still looking for the perfect locale, or have already chosen to say “I do” in Los Cabos. Either way, Los Cabos is an ideal wedding destination, here are just a few reasons why you should get married in Los Cabos:

perfect weather

How does 350 days of sunshine per year sound? Take the worry of rain showers on your wedding day out of the equation, in Los Cabos you are almost guaranteed an ideal climate for your special day. With dry, sunny days and balmy sunsets, Cabo offers picture perfect weather year round. While summer is the hottest season, it also offers better deals on resorts and activities.

You will also have warm waters and more private beach space just for you and your guests! The cooler months include January, February and March, you can also expect slightly higher prices during these more popular months. The best deals and great climate include the end of October through mid-December, and again from April through the beginning of July. Hurricanes are few and far between, though to ensure you don’t hit rough weather you might want to avoid September and the start of October. Compared to almost any other beach destination on the planet, Los Cabos offers one of the best guarantees for perfect weather!

venues made in heaven

If you think the only venues offered in Los Cabos are beachfront, think again. There are a wide-variety of venues to choose from. One unique venue is Flora Farms, a hidden gem in San Jose del Cabo. This was the chosen location for the wedding of Adam Levine. With sprawling orchards and twinkling lights, this charming site gives off Napa Valley vibes, while still being close enough to the ocean to enjoy your days on the sand.

Another lovely choice is the terraced Sunset Mona Lisa restaurant, with a breathtaking view of the sea and the famous arch, this venue is perfect for foodies. In Los Cabos and San Jose Del Cabo, Luxe resorts are abundant, it’s no wonder so many celebrities chose Los Cabos as the place to pledge their vows. If luxury is your vision, the Solaz, the Viceroy, One&Only Palmilla, The Cape, Waldorf Astoria at Pedregal, and Las Ventenas al Paraiso, all offer breathtaking luxury choices. If you prefer all-inclusive ease, the Grand Velas, the Barcelo, and Marquis Los Cabos are solid choices. Another popular choice is to rent a villa, you can find anything from traditional and historic to ultra-modern and sprawling, with views to suit any style of event. Villas are great for hosting family and saving on hotel costs! As a local photographer, I am always happy to offer tips to help my clients choose a venue to suit their needs and budget.

Safety and ease

Located just south of California with plenty of flights from both US coasts and Canada, Los Cabos is an easy and inexpensive place to fly into. With direct flights increasing all the time, you shouldn’t have difficulty finding a good option. Los Cabos is also one of the safest tourist areas in all of Mexico. Shielded from the mainland Los Cabos gives off island vibes while offering all the options of a large city. Including fine dining, vibrant night life, and shopping.

romantic scenery

Los Cabos is the ultimate choice for wedding photos that stand out big time. With towering cliffs, crashing waves, dunes, and desert, you will find your special place in Los Cabos. Choose a local wedding photographer who knows all the best kept secret places in Los Cabos and San Jose del Cabo and you are sure to get dramatic and dreamy images of your perfect day.

Bromo Seltzer Tower Engagement Session

When Paul asked me to organize their engagement session at the top of the Bromo Seltzer Tower in Baltimore I couldn’t have been more exhilarated! A quick internet search convinced me that this was one of the coolest places around.

So few people know about this gem, yet The Tower was hands-down one of the most fascinating locations I’ve shot at. When we got to the top the view alone was dazzling, with a birds-eye perspective over Baltimore’s skyline. But walking inside was truly awe-inspiring. With rich history and jumbled industrial architecture, there were so many interesting spaces to play with depth, width, and height. Fortunately, I was with a fearless duo eager to climb up onto the massive clock for some unreal shots!

I had a wonderful time here soaking in the atmosphere alongside these two beautiful people with whom I had the honor to share this all-too-short adventure!

Take a peek at some of my favorite images inside this awe-inspiring place

Debs + Vin \\the william aiken house \\

Charleston, South carolina

my first wedding of 2019 and it could not have been more dreamy!

Debs, Vin and all of their family and friends are the sweetest people and were so kind all day(thru the 3 days the wedding and ceremonies lasted)!

Debs and Vin got married at The William Aiken House in Charleston, South Carolina. They got ready and had their Mehndi and Haldi Ceremonies at the Presidential Suite at the Francis Marion Hotel while their Bengali and Tamil ceremony was held in The William Aiken House! When we walked inside our jaws dropped!

Let me tell you a little bit about The William Aiken House with sweeping ballrooms, lush private grounds and open – air piazzas make this historic 1810 mansion one of Charleston’s most sought – after venues for weddings and once in a lifetime occasions.

Happy Clients

“The word “awesome”, “excellent” are all very small when it comes to describing how I feel about Ricke’s work! The photos of my wedding are a testament to that! What touched me most is Ricke was always willing to go over and beyond to make my “big” day, most memorable-he was always punctual for all shoots (even for those at 6:00 am in the morning) and even unhesitatingly agreed to do me a pre-wedding shoot a week before the wedding! My husband and myself will always be grateful for the help that Ricke has provided. I can promise you Ricke’s photography will bring out the best of your wedding!”

Debs + Vin

Debs and Vin wanted their wedding to be a beautiful blend of their cultures and traditions. It was very important to them that their big day was both relaxing and incredibly fun.

From their dreamy details to the perfect sparkler exit, every bit of their wedding was perfection!

How to choose a Wedding Photographer

How to choose a Wedding Photographer

How to Choose a Wedding Photographer

Here are my tips:

Wedding Photography is one of the most important things to decide for your Wedding day,  your photos will last forever, you will have them forever, you’ll print them and hang them in your living room.

First try to narrow down to only the photographers whose work you like and their values matches yours.  You will spend a lot of time with your photographer on your wedding day, probably more than anyone else so figure out if you like them. If you don’t, please don’t hire them.  You don’t want to be dealing with a harsh photographer the day of your wedding. A good photographer will do the opposite and will help you with anything you need on your Wedding Day. Here at RickeHerbert Photography we have iron a shirt, saw a button on a shirt, help change a flat tire, anything we can do to help you enjoy your dad we will do.

Check if they have any reviews and how good they are. Make sure they are valid reviews. If possible check for references and ask them to show you a full wedding so you have an idea of what you’ll get.
